ALL IN JANUARY 2025 

The SACSSP Secretariat got right into the work when the office opened on 06 January 2025. The Registrations Division processed the new applications for registration and registered 66 social workers, 16 student social workers, 21 social auxiliary workers, 27 student social auxiliary workers, 19 auxiliary child and youth care workers and six student child and youth care workers by 31 January 2025. During the same period the Division issued 20 status reports of good standing as a registered social service professional and completed 24 verifications in terms of section 17 D of the Social Service Professions Act 110 of 1978 of qualifications obtained outside of South Africa as to determine whether these meet the minimum requirements of the prescribed qualification to be registered as a social service professional with the SACSSP. 

A total of 85 social workers, six social auxiliary workers and one  auxiliary child and youth care worker who are unemployed were informed that their applications to be exempted from the payment of annual fees in terms of regulation 3(b)(ii) of the Regulations relating to the fees payable by social workers, child and youth care workers, social auxiliary workers, auxiliary child and youth care workers, student social workers and student child and youth care workers were succusseful and they are exempted from the payment of annual fees for the 2025/2026 financial year. A further 14 social service professionals aged 65 years and older were informed that they are exempted from the payment of annual fees as per regulation 3(a) of the Regulations for the 2025/2026 f inancial year. The Division also issued 2,426 practice cards by the end of January. The Education, Training and Development Division assessed 69 applications from providers for continuing professional development (CPD) activities, of which 25 were approved by 31 January. 

 

UPDATES & ANNOUNCEMENTS 

The Finance and Administration Division issued invoices to all registrants in November 2024. If you did not receive an invoice, please do check through your email inbox as well as your junk/trash/ spam email folder. For more information on payment of annual fees and application for exemption to pay annual fees, please refer to General Notice 1 of 2025. The annual fee for 2025/26 financial year was due on 01 Janauary 2025. Those who are still to pay are encouraged to do so within 90 days counting from 02 January 2025, in order to avoid their names being removed from the Register.
